Simpson: I want Murphy to play

ANDY Murphy should be patient and wait for his chance.

That's the message from Preston North End boss Paul Simpson after sending the young goalkeeper to Vics.

"It's a little bit disappointing Andy has not played more games so far," he told the Lancashire Evening Post.

"But it's not something I would take up with Neil Redfearn.

"I don't like it when managers make demands on me about playing their players on loan here at Preston, so I wouldn't say that to him."

Murphy, 20, signed first-year professional forms at Deepdale in the summer before switching to the Victoria Stadium to gain experience as part of his football education.

He started the first two games, against Ebbsfleet and Droylsden, but has spent the past six kicking his heels on the bench.

And, despite his new team propping up the Blue Square Premier after conceding 20 goals so far this term, his rival for the number one jersey has just been picked as player of the month by the fans.

"Obviously at the moment Neil does not think Andy should be playing," added Simpson.

"It's just a question of him keeping patient and waiting for his chance."
