Why should I watch..?

To see if 1874 Northwich can carry the momentum from their best display of the campaign to date on Monday into the following game.

A 1-1 draw with Whitchurch is their fourth in succession between league and cup, and a team managed jointly by Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison is still searching for a first victory.

That won’t be long in arriving if they continue to create as many chances as they did at Whitchurch.

Padiham edged out Alport last weekend but succumbed to Silsden, and heavily too, in midweek.

The Storks have had a mixed start to the campaign, including an FA Cup defeat at Liversedge, but appear to be a guarantee of goals – their four Premier Division matches have yielded 21 so far.

What they’ve said

“We’ll be asking the players to repeat their performance from Monday.

“There was plenty to be positive about and it was great to see us posing such a threat when we went forward.

“It was important we took something from the game after playing so well, and hopefully we can get that first win next.”

Wayne Goodison, 1874 Northwich co-manager

Numbers game

1874 Northwich have scored 24 goals against Padiham in seven previous meetings – an average of more than three every time they play

Man to keep an eye on

Kazim Waite-Jackson

The 20-year-old made his first start of the season on Monday and delivered an encouraging performance.

He was unlucky not to cap it with a goal when a shot struck the crossbar but played a pivotal role in 1874’s late equaliser by staying composed in a busy penalty area before threading a perfectly-weighted cross into substitute Matthew Beadle’s path.

1874 team news

Taylor Kennerley serves a one-match ban following his dismissal in the FA Cup replay against Burscough.

However Lee Jackson and Mark Jones, both missing for Monday’s trip to Whitchurch Alport, return to the squad.

Matthew Woolley (ankle) and Ryan Jackson (knee) are ruled out by an injury, while Sam Hind and Danny Thomas are unavailable.
