JOEL Brownhill converted a penalty against Witton Albion, his former club, to secure for Northwich Victoria a notable friendly success on Tuesday.

He drilled his spot-kick past on-trial goalkeeper Craig Ellison after Dominic Craig had been fouled, completing a comeback that started shortly after the interval when Rob Doran cancelled out James Foley’s first-half opener scored direct from a corner.

1874 Northwich went down 3-0 at Mossley, where Matty Kay’s penalty put the home team in front.

Mason Duffy then doubled their lead before the break and a third goal from Daniel McLaughlin, aided by a deflection, completed the scoring.

Winsford United were too good for Heyside, from the Manchester League’s Premier Division, in a friendly arranged following the cancellation of a scheduled encounter with Barnton.

Joe Duckworth was among Blues’ goal-scorers in a 10-0 win at Wright Robinson College.

Middlewich Town put behind them a defeat at Whitchurch on Saturday when they edged Ashton Athletic by the odd goal in five.

Jamie Petrie netted twice, while Dean Burgess was on target too.

Lostock Gralam ran out 4-1 victors against Winnington Avenue 1994 thanks to Robbie Hatton’s hat-trick.

James Dean scored too for the Grey Lambs as they returned to winning ways.

Adam Bettley was another attacker to claim a treble, this time for Cuddington in a 4-1 success against Eagle in a fixture played at Winsford Academy.

Tom Duncalf added his name to the score-sheet too.
