OULTON Park demonstrated their resilience to reach the Cheshire Cup’s semi-finals stage on Sunday, ending with it a seven-match losing run in all competitions.
That sequence looked likely to be extended when they limped to 58-5 against Upton before a seventh-wicket stand worth 82 runs between Matt Jamieson (56) and Ben Gibbon (69no off 59 balls) turned around their fortunes.
Their innings closed on 228-5.
The lower-ranked visitors could feel confident of reaching their target after Chris McArthur (83) and Dan Owen (26) added 95 together for the second wicket.
However Richard Smith (4-35) dismissed both of them, prompting another shift in momentum towards the hosts.
Tom Hyslop (2-40) and Muhammad Kashif (2-23) weighed in too as Upton succumbed for 202 in the 40th over.
Oulton Park must now wait to discover their opponents in the last four next month.
