KINGSLEY’S hopes of getting their hands on the Cheshire League’s T20 Cup were dashed after a thrashing at Port Sunlight in the quarter-finals last Thursday.

The visitors’ cause wasn’t helped by conceding more than 200 runs after winning the toss, opener Ben McPherson (89 off 46 balls) and captain Simon Melberzs (48) accounting for most of those.

Craig Lynch (2-27) and Ben Stoddart (2-30) took the wickets to fall as the hosts closed on 209-4.

To their credit, Stoddart (39) and Haris Yassin (30) got the Crofters’ reply off to a flier.

However momentum was lost just as quickly following the dismissal of Hayden Lanza (35) and they were dismissed for 143 after Matty Howard (4-9) ripped through the middle-order.
