DAVENHAM halted a slide that had seen them start the weekend above the relegation zone when they celebrated a 30-run victory at Sale.

Danny Hancock’s men swap places with their hosts in the Division One table as a result.

The visitors put 161-7 on the board after being put in, and opening pair James Loveridge (33) and Ben Gough (38) laid a foundation.

However further runs were hard to come by until wicket-keeper Mike Sambell (23) and Oli Gallagher (24no) weighed in.

A fine collective effort in the field prevented Sale’s reply from gathering momentum, and they succumbed for 131.

Sam Hunt (4-38) led the way, supported by Hancock (3-41) – who accounted for the tail – and Christian Kouris (2-25).

Oulton Park’s stunning start to the season is a fading memory after they suffered a fifth successive defeat in the Premier Division.

Title-favourites Timperley were simply too good, and amassed 294-2 before declaring after Furqan Shafiq (56) and Grant Hodnett (105) had put on 103 for the first wicket.

Abhishek Kulkarni (70no) passed 50 too.

Another collapse at the crease will be a cause for concern for the men from Little Budworth after they tumbled to 127 all out.

Tom Hyslop (50) found the boundary 10 times, but Muhammad Kashif (26) was the only other batsman to make a contribution.

Northwich suffered a six-wicket reverse at promotion-chasing Romiley in Division Two.

They were dismissed for 129, with youngster Matthew Holland (25) and Glinoj Cherian (22) their leading-scorers, after James Bashford (5-18) excelled for the hosts with the ball.

It proved too small a total to defend though, and Romiley eased to victory at 133-4 in little more than 30 overs.

Sam Astley (40) and Mark Flattley (48) made the biggest contributions, while James Gittings (1-24), Tharusha Fernando (1-39), Andrew Dufty (1-43) and Jordan McDonough (1-15) shared the wickets to fall.

Weaverham find themselves in the bottom two following a heavy 171-run reverse at home to Tattenhall – a direct rival in a battle to beat the drop.

The visitors ran up 308-5, led by Aamir Afzal (100) with support from Muhammad Umer (50) and Ben Pearce (53), while Stuart Hayes took 3-43.

It proved too tall an order for the Russets, who were without captain and leading run-scorer Ian Eaton, as they were hustled out for 137.

Hayes (33no) was their best performer with the bat after Alan Brock (3-25) and Charlie Dearling (3-22) had done damage earlier in the innings.
