"It's a massive club with a great history and when I spoke to Steve Wilkes and Steve Pickup they told me the quality of the squad they was putting together and along with the clubs' ambitions it was a easy decision to get on board," he said.

The news comes hot on the heels of another recruit.

Manager Wilkes followed up the capture of former Atherton Collieries pair Brad Cooke (midfielder) and Brad Taberner (goalkeeper) with the signing of striker Robert Doran.

The 27-year-old has previously featured at Prescot Cables, Runcorn Town, Colwyn Bay and Droylsden.

Wilkes refers to Doran as a 'big, stong, physical type of centre forward' adding that 'the fans are going to love the way he plays'.

"He's also experienced after plying most of his trade in the divisions above," said Wilkes.

Meanwhile, Cooke has spoken of reuniting with Wilkes following his move from Colls last week.

"I have been Steve's (Wilkes') captain before at Ashton Athletic so I know how he works and how good a manager he is," said the 32-year-old centre midfielder who has also had spells with Ashton United, Salford City, Atherton LR and Ramsbottom United.

"I spoke to my close friend Iain Howard who spoke very highly of the people involved at Northwich.

"The two Steves are putting together a side that will challenge and I can’t wait to get started!

"I had the opportunity to sign for a number of clubs but after listening to the plans that are in place I knew this was the right place for me."
