SLADE Mitrovich scored a stunning century as Oakmere eliminated neighbours Winnington Park from the Cheshire League’s T20 Cup on Thursday.

The South African plundered 107 runs off 63 balls, striking 11 fours and four maximums, as the home team posted 178-6 at Overdale Lane after winning the toss.

His intervention was timely, and included a 143-run partnership for the fourth wicket with teenager Ciaran McDonnell (44 off 34 balls) after the hosts slipped to 29-3.

Iain Connor (3-29) was denied a hat-trick by the latter, while wicket-keeper Alec Butcher held on to three catches behind the stumps.

Sam Barnes took 2-49.

Winnington succumbed for 139 in reply, with captain Butcher and Aussie Tyron Young (both 22) their leading run-scorers.

Mitrovich took two catches, and returned figures of 2-17, to complete a fine evening’s work.

However a collective effort from Oakmere’s bowlers settled the outcome after Matt Howard (2-44), skipper Craig Phelan (2-34) and in-form Matt Norton (3-18) all weighed in.

Kingsley edged home by three wickets at Division One rivals Barnton.

Chasing 140 to win, they made it to their target with nine balls to spare thanks to a run-a-ball cameo from Harry Waring (17no).

Harris Yassin (30), Charlie Loye (22) and Michael Lawless (21) contributed too, while Barnton captain Simon Hancock (2-40) and Pat Flanagan (2-25) took two wickets each.

The home team had put 139-7 on the board after winning the toss, with Sam Connop (47) and Paul Coot (24) among the runs at the top of the order.

Flanagan (27) was one of visiting captain Toby Mullins’ victims as he took 2-30.

Middlewich lost by 84 runs against Haslington, opponents that ended their involvement in last season’s edition too.

The Crewe outfit racked up 194-5 at Haddon Field, where Jack Moran (90 off 45 balls) was in destructive form.

He was bowled by Kieran Boyle before he could reach a century, while Stephen Parry took 2-43.

Middlewich fell for 110 in reply, with more than half of those coming from the bat of Richard Clorley (63 off 45 balls) who found the boundary 10 times.

Only two others, Craig Johnson and Sam Brothers, reached double digits after former Middlewich bowler Tom Gledhill (4-22) had taken key wickets.
