ALISTAIR Stanway described conditions for the Warrington Road Club 50-mile time trial on Saturday as the toughest he’d competed in.

In high temperatures and with wind blowing, the Weaver Valley Cycling Club member completed the course in 2:01.37 to classify 15th overall.

Ben Norbury (Congleton CC) took victory in 1:52.05.

Meanwhile Weaver Valley’s Ged Lacey contested the over 60s age-group category in the Macclesfield Wheelers Evening Road Race at Siddington.

Three riders broke away after two laps and stayed clear, leaving him to cross the line fifth in class behind victor Steve Wilkinson (Team Wheelguru).

Paul Connor made an impression in the latest round of Weaver Valley’s open 10-mile time-trial series when he topped the standings in 23.49.

Emily Martin was second in a personal best 24.40.

The series continues every Wednesday, when riders meet on the car park at Shakerley Mere from 6.15pm.

The first sets off at 7pm.

Beginners and newcomers are welcome.
