EMILY Martin delivered another impressive performance on Saturday when the Racing Chance Foundation staged a 25-mile time trial in Cheshire.

The Weaver Valley Cycling Club member was third fastest female in the field, completing the course in a personal best time of 1:02.50 – an average speed of 23.9mph.

Hetty Niblett, riding for Mid-Shropshire Wheelers, clocked 1:00.23 to win first prize by almost a minute from Deborah Moss (Team Merlin).

In the men’s race, Paul Connor (1:02.00) and Steve Marlow (1:08.10) represented Weaver Valley on a course on roads around Goostrey.

Darren Maironis (Velotik Racing Team) timed 53.35 to take overall honours ahead of Adam Darby (Salford CC) and John Morgan (Cover Your Car Racing Team).

Kevan Underhill finished strongly in the concluding round of the Dave Astles Road Race series, breaking away from the bunch with a mile to go on the Siddington circuit.

He was joined shortly afterwards by Steve Davies, and the duo sprinted to the line with the Weaver Valley member’s rival celebrating a victory.

Clubmate Mark Adshead finished in the bunch.

Weaver Valley’s colours were worn by Nick Butterworth during the TLI National Closed Circuit Championships at Oulton Park on Sunday.

He followed victor Roy Holmes (Bott Cycle Team) over the line in his age-group category as part of the bunch.

Meanwhile Ged Lacey failed to make a decisive break in the over 60s class, won by Steve Wilkinson (Team Wheelguru).
