1874 NORTHWICH took another step towards playing at Wembley after winning an FA Vase quarter-final at Leighton Town on Saturday.

Striker Scott McGowan scored the game’s only goal when he converted a penalty midway through the first-half after Domenico Marsala’s rash tackle on Jake Parker.

They successfully protected that narrow advantage for the game’s remainder.

Their reward is a place in the competition’s semi-finals, which are played over two legs.

The North West Counties League side will be joined in the draw on Monday by bookmakers’ favourites Marske United and Stockton Town, both from the Northern League, and Thatcham Town.
