Why should I watch..?

To see how Northwich Victoria respond to the heaviest defeat they have suffered since Steve Wilkes was appointed as manager.

A 5-0 reverse at in-form Bootle on Saturday was their third in succession without scoring, and Vics have still to record a first win since the turn of the year.

However they did beat their guests tonight, AFC Liverpool, in the return back in November.

The Reds occupy a place in the North West Counties League Premier Division table’s bottom-three following a 1-0 defeat at Ashton Athletic last time out.

They did though register only a second away success of the campaign when they edged Maine Road the previous game.

What they’ve said

“We’ll be making changes after Saturday, which really wasn’t good viewing.

“Our performance at the weekend was totally unacceptable, and as manager I’m not immune from criticism.

“It’s important we put it right, and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Numbers game

Vics will be desperate to end a run of three games without scoring, all of which have ended in defeat

Man to keep an eye on

Allen Weston

The experienced central defender hopes to help a shell-shocked backline regroup after they conceded four goals in the first 37 minutes at Bootle on Saturday.

Vics have kept only one clean-sheet since a 2-0 win at Irlam on October 14, and that was against back-markers Barnton.

Weston will also have a point to prove against a club he left earlier this season to join Northwich.

Vics team news

Daniel Johnson sits out through suspension for the final time.

Leading goal-scorer Brian Matthews (hamstring) is close to a return but will not be risked, while Yaw Gyimah (knee) continues to convalesce after recent surgery.
