Why should I watch..?
Witton attempt to halt a sequence of five defeats against improving opponents that have won their past four league matches.
There were some encouraging signs for Albion supporters at Hednesford, where their side’s defence stayed solid until a moment of inspiration by the Pitmen broke the deadlock with 11 minutes left.
However a run of more than six hours without a goal at the other end is a growing concern.
Workington have kept only one clean-sheet on their travels in the Northern Premier League this season, and have lost on four occasions.
Reds have risen to sixth in the standings, two points adrift of a play-offs position, as a result of their current run though.
What they’ve said
“We’re not doing enough in the attacking third of the field [at the moment].
“There is a lack of quality there, whether that’s in terms of a pass or a decision we’re making. That has to improve, because scoring goals will take pressure off our defence.
“I thought a change of formation made us more solid [at Hednesford], and we improved significantly when defending set-pieces.”
Carl Macauley, Witton Albion manager

Witton team news
Defender Nick Ryan is a doubt for the hosts after sustaining a thigh injury during Saturday’s defeat at Hednesford.
Meanwhile Carl Macauley must decide whether to recall Matty Devine after he came through a half-hour appearance as a substitute unscathed during the same game after recovering from a hamstring strain.
Wide man Micah Evans (calf) is ruled out by an injury he aggravated last week.
Man to keep an eye on
Rob Hopley
Witton’s talismanic front man was denied an opening goal against Hednesford on Saturday after a linesman incorrectly flagged him offside.
Posed Albion’s biggest attacking threat, both during open play and at set-pieces, with his heading ability and has scored already against Workington in the teams’ previous meeting earlier this term.
