1874 NORTHWICH will contest an FA Cup third qualifying round tie for the first time in the club’s history later this month.
That is their reward for a 1-0 victory against North Ferriby United, opponents who won the FA Trophy in 2015 and play three levels higher in the National League North, on Sunday afternoon.
Kyle Dixon, a substitute for the Villagers, scored an own goal midway through the second period to settle the outcome, diverting Taylor Kennerley’s set-piece past stranded goalkeeper Ross Durrant.
The replacement fouled Sam Hind to give away the free-kick initially.
1874, from the North West Counties League top-flight, have now progressed through four stages this season.
They will be joined by Premier Division rivals Ashton Athletic, conquerors of Albion Sports, in a draw on Monday.
