WAYNE Goodison has insisted 1874 Northwich will remain committed to attack ahead of tonight’s FA Cup replay with West Didsbury.

The North West Counties League rivals shared six goals in a thrilling first encounter at St Luke’s Barton Stadium on Saturday, when the home team came from 3-1 down to tie.

And their co-manager told the Guardian he expects a similarly open second meeting later.

He added: “We’ve changed our attitude to be much more offensive, and that means we’ll give up chances.

“It also means we’ll create plenty, and a draw is no less than we deserved [at the weekend].

“The lads showed fantastic spirit, and if we had found ourselves in that position last year then we would have gone out.

“I felt we would get opportunities, and we did.

“I guess there is a sense of euphoria when you’re the side that comes back, but I don’t think that changes the dynamic much for Tuesday’s game.

“It’s in the balance, probably 50-50, even if they may feel home advantage favours them slightly.”

1874 have full-back Paul Connor available again after he completed a three-match ban as punishment for his dismissal against Northwich Victoria in the previous round.

However Mark Jones (foot), Danny Thomas and Joe Woolley (both knee) remain absent through injury.

Goodison saved praise too for Kyle Riley, who has also watched a lot of the action from the substitutes’ bench after switching from Glossop North End on the eve of the campaign.

The former Winsford captain scored his first goal for 1874 in last weekend’s game, sparking a late rally that ended when Jack Pritchard nodded in a stoppage-time leveller.

“Kyle took his goal well and he made a difference when he came on,” said the Northwich boss.

“We’ve spoken to him, and we’re not just going to throw a team out with a different formation because of the personnel we have.

“But we’ll work on things in training to give ourselves that extra option.

“He’s been a bit frustrated, and is keen to play – there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Mossley, from the Northern Premier League’s First Division North, await the victors of tonight’s game.
