HAYDEN Lanza inspired Kingsley’s bowlers during the promotion hopefuls’ latest victory on Saturday – a 14th in 15 matches this term.

The in-form Aussie took 5-35, including the first four batsmen, to help restrict visitors Ashley to 105-9 at the Croft.

Adrian Burden (3-29) continued to apply pressure, while Travis Martin (1-11) claimed the wicket of leading scorer Hamza Butt (36).

Harris Yassin (36) provided the highlight of the Division Two pacesetters’ reply, striking five successive boundaries in an over before he was bowled by Charlie Hatchell from the over’s final delivery.

Captain Toby Mullins (31no) and Kieron Ollier (24no) then steered their side to a comfortable six-wicket win at 109-4.

"It was another strong performance against opponents that have played good cricket this season," said Mullins.

"We kept it tight while bowling, and punished any bad balls when we batted."

That leaves them 36 points clear of second-place Poynton, who are their hosts this weekend.

Kingsley were comfortble five-wicket winners during the return back in May

Mullins added: "We will need to be at our best.

"Poynton are bowling out sides easily as well as putting up big scores themselves.

"A positive result will give us a huge amount of confidence for the remaining games."

Oakmere put behind them the disappointment of a T20 Knockout exit in midweek when they cruised to an eight-wicket win at home to Heaton Mersey.

A collective bowling effort, which dismissed the visitors for 77, was the key to victory.

Mike Cushion (4-17), CJ van der Walt (3-16) and captain Craig Phelan (2-34) did the damage as only two batsmen posted a double-digit score.

Van der Walt (48no off 44 balls) then did the rest as his side raced to their target inside 18 overs.

Winnington Park’s struggles continued as they fell to a seven-wicket loss at Wilmslow in the same section.

James Hendry (37no) was the only member of the top order to contribute to his side’s below-par 142-8, a total boosted by cameos late on from Sam Barnes (20) and Ian Connor (21).

Wilmslow eased to 143-3 by the 23rd over, with Elliot Rowe (43no) and Adnan Arshad (21no) sharing in an unbroken fourth-wicket stand worth 49 runs.

In Division One, Barnton’s recent recovery stalled spectacularly after a humiliating 154-run defeat at home to Hale Barns.

Ben Hicks was in brilliant form for the visitors, claiming 9-19 in a dozen overs to knock over the shell-shocked hosts for 45.

Opener Joe Cooper (102no) had been in inspired form for the visitors as they ran up 199-4 after being asked to bat, with Adam Garrod (2-51) the most successful of the hosts’ bowling attack.

Middlewich went down by eight wickets at Runcorn in the same section, and continue to occupy a place in the relegation zone.

They posted 161-8, an innings during which Kieran Boyle (48) and Phil Parry (30no) were their leading scorers.

It was not enough, and Jordan Grobbelaar (89no off 78 balls) played a leading role as the home team reached their victory target in the 30th over.

Ian Cherry (45) was among the runs too.

Hartford’s batsmen could not build on a positive start against visiting Kerridge in Division Five, and were dismissed for 165.

Raj Ranganathan (46) and Martin Pickup (42) both contributed towards the top of the order.

However their guests eased to a six-wicket win after tea at 167-4 thanks to an unbroken stand between Andy McKeith (47no) and James Knight (36no).
