OAKMERE remain on course to win the Cheshire League’s T20 Knockout for the first time after despatching higher-ranked opponents in the last eight on Thursday.

A 40-run success at Lymm sets up a semi-finals date with Port Sunlight, who ended Kingsley’s run in emphatic fashion.

The men from Overdale Lane posted 163-6 after winning the toss, and were set on course for a sizeable total after Adrian Stubbs (54) and Rick Lyons (17) put on 61 for the first wicket.

South African CJ van der Walt (53no) also weighed in with an unbeaten half-century, including six fours and a maximum, while Jonathan Fletcher took 4-31.

Lymm’s reply stalled when James Norton (3-28) took three wickets in the same over, including those of Fletcher (20) and Mathew Carr (25), to wrestle control of the contest for his side.

The Warrington outfit’s innings closed on 123 all out after Stubbs (3-16) had completed a fine night’s work.

Stockport Georgians are through following a 31-run success against Woodford, while Haslington host Division One rivals Ashton on Mersey in the other quarter-final on Sunday.
