OAKMERE progressed to the T20 Knockout’s last 16 as a reward for a comfortable six-wicket win at home to Winsford.

Skipper Craig Phelan decided he preferred to chase after winning the toss, a decision that was vindicated by his bowlers restricting the visitors to 78-8.

He took 2-7, supported by David Norton (2-27) and South African CJ van der Walt (2-12).

Captain David Bates (24) was one of only three batsmen to reach double figures.

Oakmere reached their target in the 18th over, helped there by Phelan (35) in a 64-run partnership with James Norton (15no) for the fourth wicket.

Kingsley cruised through at the expense of lower-ranked opponents too, beating guests Westminster Park by six wickets at the Croft.

The away side succumbed for 75 after being put in, with Ben Stoddart (3-9) and Harris Yassin (3-17) the most successful of the home team’s bowlers.

Aussie Hayden Lanza (23no) steered them to victory at 78-4 in the 15th over.

Improving Middlewich secured their place at the next stage after a 10-wicket success at home to neighbours Holmes Chapel.

The visitors could only muster 104-4 at Haddon Field after being put in, a target the hosts passed with more than three overs to spare thanks to openers Richard Clorley (50no) and James Prime (39no).

Their reward is to visit Haslington, a rival in Division One this season, at the competition’s next stage.
