PETER Gallichan and Ben Gough helped lay a winning platform as Davenham took over at the Division One summit with an 84-run victory at Urmston.

Gallichan contributed 61 runs as his unbeaten side rattled up 200-7, before Gough took the wickets of four of the top five home batsmen.

James Loveridge (32) and wicket keeper Mike Sambell (35) provided strong support to Gallichan, who was eventually stumped from the bowling of Ian Grindley.

Urmston were bowled out for 116, with Gough (4-41), David Hancock (3-13) and Robin Taylor (3-27) doing the damage in Davenham’s fourth win from seven outings.

Dangerman Lewis Jackson (61) was one of the quartet taken out of proceedings by Gough.

Previous table toppers Widnes fell to Oulton Park in their first loss since promotion.

Park skipper Pat Roberts led the way with 46 out of a tally of 205, while Marcus Fourie (4-40) showed some menace.

Daniel Leech (30), Callum Begg (35) and Andrew Mills (32) made their presence felt too.

The total proved to be beyond Widnes, bowled out for 103.

Only Fourie (42) and Benjamin Hewitt (29) made any headway as Martin East (3-9), Muhammad Kashif (2-19) and Andrew Hards (2-25) got busy.

Weaverham, propping up the table, mustered only 65 against the Marple attack of Pat Morahan (4-37) and Andy Greasley (3-7).

Rob McMillan collated 34, but all other Wallerscote Road batsmen failed to reach double figures.

Jake Lightfoot, James Bell and James Ollier did not trouble the scorer.

Marple completed a nine-wicket win at 66-1 in the 10th over, with Mark Makin (25) leading the way.

Northwich continued their improvement with an eight-wicket win at bottom club Bredbury St Mark’s in Division Two.

The hosts were dismissed for 106, with Joe Walker (4-9) off 14 balls.

Andy Dufty made it a quadruple too with 4-27 before Mark Walker’s side replied with 107-2.

Luke Tapsfield included a dozen fours in his 67 not out.
