FRIDAY'S Tour Series round in Northwich is one ‘not to be missed.’

So says town clerk Chris Shaw as final preparations take place for the visit of the top cycling event.

Northwich BID manager Jane Hough said: “Following months of planning it’s great to finally be within touching distance of the event.

“I can’t wait to see all the spectators not only lining the streets but enjoying the great range of activities that have been organised by ourselves, Northwich Town Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council.

“Securing this national televised event has been all about showcasing our wonderful town to a wider audience.

“This event will certainly help to firmly put Northwich back on the map and I’d urge everyone to come and see what it’s all about on the day.

“Activities run from 2pm to 9pm, so there is still plenty to see and do even if you’re working till late afternoon.”

Northwich town clerk Chris Shaw said: “This event has been the talk of the town for weeks and has created a real buzz within Northwich. With thousands of people expected to line the streets it’s shaping up as an event not to be missed.

“I’m also delighted that children from local schools will also be able to experience the event during the community elements which kick off at 2pm – they will have a day that they won’t forget.

Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the corporate relay races too, they’re bound to be fun to watch.”

Tour Series Race director Mick Bennett said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the Tour Series to Northwich for the first time ever.

“It’s great to be taking the racing to new places and giving a new audience the chance to see world and Olympic champions competing on their doorstep.

It’s set to be a brilliant night of racing and we encourage everyone in Northwich to come out and show their support on Friday night and enjoy the spectacle!”

Wendy Batey-Gray, owner of Northwich based Marketing and PR Agency Solutions 24-7 said: “I’m thrilled an event of this magnitude is coming to Northwich, and it’ll be great to see some of the country’s best cyclists racing here in the town.

“The race route actually passes right by our building and we’re all looking forward to seeing the preparations and get a sense of the anticipation building.”

Parking restrictions are to be lifted on Cheshire West and Chester council car parks in Northwich on Friday from midday.
