Georgia Shirley, from Northwich Rowing Club, took silver for the North West in an under 16s girls’ single scull.

There was a runners-up prize too for Sophie Gillbanks, who joined forces with Grange School’s Ellie Cushen in an under 16s girls’ double.

An East Midlands combination claimed gold at the end of a closely-contested final at the National Water Sports Centre.

Northwich duo Charlotte Almond and Rachel Cooney were part of a composite crew, along with Warrington Rowing Club’s Libby Myers and Ella Stanhope, that won a bronze medal in an under 16s girls’ quad.

Grange School’s Frances Campbell was selected for an under 16s girls’ eight, along with crewmates from Hollingworth Lake and King’s Chester, that ranked ninth overall.

Meanwhile Grange’s under 15s boys’ coxed quad, with Seb Paisley, Jack McGinn, Harry Barker, Brad Strickland-Baker and cox Lucy Hall on board, reached the A final.

They narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fifth.

In the final team standings, the North West classified third out of a dozen regions.

Thames London took the Dame Di Ellis Shield as a reward for their overall victory ahead of Thames Upper.
