JACK Jeys scored with time running out to deny Northwich Victoria a win that would have lifted them off the bottom of the table.

Paul Moore’s men led twice against Bedworth United, only for Jeys to nudge over the line from close range a ball hooked goal-wards by Elliott Parrott.

However the Vics’ boss was still left feeling satisfied afterwards.

“I think we were better than them and deserved a draw,” he said.

“However we reacted in the way I wanted after a disappointing performance [against Shaw Lane] in midweek.

“We’ll take a point and, if we continue as we are, I’m confident we’ll reach a position of safety before the end of the season.”

Front man Yaw Gyimah volleyed narrowly off-target during the early exchanges, while Dave Short twice prompted goalkeeper Josh Barnes to make comfortable saves.

At the other end, Bedworth’s leading scorer Daniel Creaney fired into the side-netting from Sam Aldhouse’s assist.

Vics took the lead on 48 minutes when Short curved a perfectly-placed free kick into the bottom corner after Marc Albrighton had hauled down Gyimah.

The front man then forced Barnes to save smartly, while his opposite number Dylan Forth was equal to attempts by Richard Blythe and Creaney.

The visitors’ appeals for a penalty, when Godwin Abadaki fell under Jamie McAteer’s challenge, were turned down by referee Richard Price.

Bedworth restored parity on 75 minutes, Creaney firing low past Forth from close range after had Blyth inadvertently diverted the ball into the striker’s path.

Northwich were back in front two minutes later, this time when Gyimah finished smartly from John Bennett’s assist.

However the Greenbacks earned a share of the spoils with two minutes left.

Creaney nodded down Danny Kavanagh’s cross at the back post, teeing up Parrott.

His effort was heading in, but Jeys made sure it did.
