A NORTHWICH teenager has been selected to represent his country at a prestigious international tournament for a second successive year.

Harry Gibson will be part of a 12-strong group to compete for England in the under 15s boys’ epee at the Challenge Wratislavia in March.

The 14-year-old made the same trip last year, ranking third for his team and narrowly outside the top 20 overall.

A student at Hartford Church of England High School, he secured his spot in the squad as one of the most consistent performers in his age category over the past 12 months.

Gibson classified fifth at the England Youth Championships in June, and represented the North West at the British Youth Championships last April.

The Northwich Fencing Club member secured his place on the team by retaining a North West Junior title he has won for the past three years.

The 2017 edition of the Challenge Wratislavia event is scheduled to take place in Wroclaw between March 23 and 27.
