JAMIE Davies is the latest player to hit a maximum break this season in the Northwich and District Pool League.

It helped his side, Castle B, brush aside clubmates Castle C in their Division One encounter on Wednesday.

Champions Gladstone C edged a point clear at the table’s summit after recording a seventh successive win, this time at Greenbank A.

Castle D continue to keep pace following a slender victory on their visit to Green Dragon A.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Gladstone A captain Andy Hollinshead won a decisive frame against his Nectar’s counterpart Rick Vale while Paul Hulmes did the same for Gladstone B at back-markers Castle A.

Witton Chimes A climbed to second spot in Division Two as a reward for beating Barn Owl E, closing to within a point of leaders Lion B following their surprise defeat at rock-bottom Gladstone D.

It is a first success of the campaign for Darren Walton’s team.

Barn Owl B are close by in third place after edging out guests Moulton Legion, while Rick Merrick took the final frame for Greenbank C at Lion A.

Greenbank B claimed the prize scalp of leaders Barn Owl A in Division Three, winning by the odd frame.

Second-placed Witton Chimes B won at Blue Barrel A by the same score, while Wheatsheaf strengthen their hold on third position following a 5-2 victory against Blue Barrel B.

Barn Owl H proved too strong for Green Dragon B in the other game played this week.
