1874 Northwich turn their attention back to a challenge for promotion following last Saturday’s FA Vase defeat against Atherton Collieries.

They do so by taking a trip they have completed once already this term, to Padiham.

On that occasion, the visitors prevailed 3-2 in a Macron Cup encounter.

With Colls scheduled to host Bootle, there is an added incentive this weekend to close a gap to the sides above them in the Premier Division table.

Numbers game

1874 have won each of their previous three meetings with the Storks, scoring 15 goals.

Ian Street’s side have also collected more points on the travels this season – 21 – than they have in home games.

In-form Padiham are unbeaten in their past seven Premier Division fixtures, winning six of those.

Man to keep an eye on

Sam Hind

It’s often the case that a player’s contribution is appreciated more acutely in his absence, and 1874 missed the attacker’s ability to link midfield and attack during last weekend’s disappointing FA Vase exit against Atherton Collieries.

He has also contributed 10 goals this season too.

1874 team news

Wide man Tyler Edwards could make a second debut after returning to 1874 this week. Fellow newcomer Dahrius Waldron is unavailable though, as is Ryan Jackson.

Sam Hind is back after attending his brother’s wedding last weekend, while Sam Hare has completed a three-match suspension.
