1874 Northwich host a familiar foe in one of the ties of the FA Vase second round this weekend.
Atherton Collieries, rivals for promotion from the North West Counties League’s top flight, are the visitors to St Luke’s Barton Stadium for the teams’ first meeting this season.
Both saw off Northern League opposition at the previous stage, although Colls’ path was a smoother one after they put five goals without reply past Jarrow Roofing.
Meanwhile Sam Hind's winner secured 1874’s passage against Billingham Synthonia.
Numbers game
Ian Street’s men are unbeaten in five league and cup matches, winning four of them, since a disappointing defeat against Congleton last month.
The club celebrates the fourth anniversary of their formation this week, and a victory on Saturday would match their best run in the FA Vase to date.
Colls reached the third round last season, bowing out to Newton Aycliffe – their best run in the competition since 1992.
They arrive in Winsford in form after winning their past five games in all competitions.
Man to keep an eye on
Ryan Jackson
The wide man may not start, but he has the potential to make an impact as a substitute with his direct dribbling and willingness to shoot at goal.
Street identified the 22-year-old’s return from a long-term knee injury, along with the signing of youngster Joe Woolley, as a key one to widening his attacking options.
1874 team news
Midfielder Sam Hare is still suspended, while Sam Hind is unavailable because he is best man at his brother’s wedding.
Ian Street hopes to have Danny Thomas (groin) available again after he sat out last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Irlam.
