PAT Flanagan was Barnton’s star turn when they rolled over Runcorn for 67 to win by 89 runs on Saturday.

The spinner, asked by captain Simon Hancock to open the bowling with Neil Langham absent, took 7-34 from a 13-over spell to help his side record a fourth successive victory.

Adam Garrod (2-8) provided support.

The hosts had worried that their tally of 156 was too small.

Garrod (48) and Cory Devanny (32) rescued them from 21-2, adding 74 runs for the third wicket.

Hancock and Chris Myatt put on another 29 at the bottom of the order before David McNamara (4-33) dismissed the tail.

In-form Oakmere moved ahead of neighbours Winnington Park in a race to be promoted from Division Two following a comfortable 81-run win at Woodford.

They have now won five of their past half-dozen matches, losing only to title-favourites Port Sunlight.

James Williams (45) and skipper Craig Phelan (40) shared in a stand worth 72 runs for the first wicket as the men from Overdale Lane totalled 161-7.

Harrison Jones (5-17), with support from Nick Guest (3-17) and Matt Howard (2-22), led the way as Woodford were sent back for 80.

Winnington, victors now in only one of their past seven games, had to settle for a share of the spoils away to Chelford despite bowling out their hosts for 147.

Phill Amatiello (3-51) was among the wickets again, supported by Jonny Wales (2-10), Iain Connor (2-26) and Tom Speak (2-29).

However only two visiting batsmen – Jordan Daly (28) and Kendol Richardson (23) – posted double-digit scores as Park reached 118-9 before rain forced a halt to their innings after 41 overs.

“It was a good display in the field, and all of our bowlers performed solidly,” said captain Alec Butcher.

“Tom [Speak] was impressive after coming back from injury – his spell was both hostile and consistent, and he deserved more wickets.”

Kingsley suffered a heavy defeat, by 156 runs, against the table-toppers at the Croft.

Port Sunlight racked up 213-8, then Jimmy Roberts (8-24 off 10 overs) knocked over the home team for 57 in reply.
