Why should I watch..?

Albion are stepping into the unknown following a switch to Division One South.

Carl Macauley’s squad is much-changed; only four players – Anthony Gardner, Ryan Hickman, Michael Wilson and Rob Hopley – that started the final game of last season are likely to be involved.

Stamford, demoted from the top flight at the end of last term, have endured a turbulent summer too.

The Daniels were reprieved, and then relegated again, while manager Graham Drury has also been busy reshaping his side.

Numbers game

Witton have never won a Northern Premier League fixture away to Stamford and, most notoriously, were relegated following a defeat on their most recent visit.

Albion, 2-0 up at half-time in a game they could afford to draw to secure their spot in the Premier Division for another season, lost 3-2.

None of the players on the field that day are still at the club.

Man to keep an eye on

Cameron Dalton

The front man has been a prolific scorer for West Cheshire League side South Liverpool in the past four seasons, and makes the step up to the Northern Premier League with Witton Albion this term.

His partnership in attack with Rob Hopley will be fascinating, and physically imposing, and a double against Farsley Celtic in a friendly last weekend is evidence the 26-year-old will start the season in confident mood.
