OULTON Park continued their pursuit of a Division One promotion place when they extended a winning sequence to three matches by beating Oxton on Saturday.

The Little Budworth outfit have recorded victories now in six of their past eight games.

They restricted their guests to 180-8 after losing the toss, although a century partnership between Greg Shillinglaw (48) and Mahedi Quadri (63) for the sixth wicket rescued them from 62-5.

Tom Hyslop (3-59) and Sam Blandford (2-40) impressed with the ball before Hyslop (54no) – who put on 69 runs with Andrew Mills (38) for the fourth wicket – top-scored in a reply that closed on 182-6.

Davenham denied leaders Didsbury in their encounter, securing a share of the spoils after reaching 163-9 at stumps.

South African Givon Christian (80) shared in a third-wicket stand worth 74 runs with Sam Hunt (32), only for the next six wickets to fall for just 38.

Despite the best effort of George Poyser, who took 4-35, tail-enders Stephen Bliss and Tom Gough stayed at the crease for the remainder.

The hosts had declared at 227-9, a tally to which Matthew Marfani (83no) and captain Nick Anderson (64) both contributed half-centuries.

Weaverham were beaten by a rival for promotion for a second successive Saturday following a heavy eight-wicket defeat at Sale.

The Russets fell for 157 after winning the toss, with Kevin Waterhouse (37) and James Lewis (31) their leading scorers while Tyrone Lawrence claimed 5-39.

Brooke Guest (90 off 77 balls) and Matt Spells (44no) raced to 135 for the first wicket after tea as Sale coasted home on 158-2.

Northwich lost by three wickets at second-placed Upton in Division Two.

James Plant (51) and Matthew Dufty (45) shared in a sixth-wicket partnership worth 87 runs to boost the visitors’ total to 179-8.

Nat Sariman (85no) carried his bat during a winning Upton reply that included a stand of 76 for the second wicket with Matthew Smith (38).

Plant (3-35) and Andrew Dufty (3-36) were the pick of Northwich’s bowlers.

Middlewich fell further from a position of safety following a seven-wicket reverse at Stockport, who rise to fourth.

Richard Clorley (37) and Ryan Twigg (28) put on 55 runs after coming together at 42-5 before the visitors fell for 140.

The hosts, led by Tom Facer (38no), needed only 23 overs to reach their target.
