KINGSLEY reached the Cheshire League T20 final last Thursday after becoming the first team to beat Runcorn in the competition in more than two years.

They will take on Romiley in September’s showpiece at Haslington.

Brent Hartley was in fine form for the men from the Croft, taking 4-31 as the hosts restricted the holders to 108 all out after winning the toss.

Patrick Tyrrell (44), who played a pivotal part in the visitors’ innings, was one of his victims.

Adrian Burden (2-9), James Faint (1-30) and Ben Stoddart (1-19) were Kingsley’s other wicket-takers.

The lower-ranked home team made it to their target with six balls to spare at 110-7.

Captain Toby Mullins (27no) and Faint were at the crease at the finish after Hartley (21) contributed three boundaries and a six at the top of the order.

Nathan McNichol (4-7 off four overs) was the pick of the Runcorn attack, bowling brilliantly at the start of Kingsley’s reply to leave them 39-4.

Mullins and Haris Yassin (18) led a recovery that swung the tie back their side’s way, inflicting on Division One outfit Runcorn a first T20 defeat since they lost a quarter final at Barrow in July 2014.
