OULTON Park recorded a third successive win on Saturday to continue their pursuit of a promotion place in Division One.

They were bowled out for 163 at Little Budworth, where Daniel Leech (44) and Tom Hyslop (36) were their leading scorers.

Brad McIntosh (5-30) ripped through the hosts’ lower order to put his side in with a chance of victory.

However a heroic effort from Kiwi slow bowler Sam Blandford, who returned magnificent figures of 8-48, dismissed visitors Warrington for 106 after tea.

Hyslop (1-5) and Matt Parkinson (1-53) took the other wickets to fall as the overseas star increased his tally for the campaign to 43 from 11 matches.

It leaves the men from Pinfold Lane third in the table, 10 points adrift of Grappenhall.

Wilden Cornwall inspired Weaverham to end a three-match sequence without a victory when he claimed six wickets at Cheadle Hulme.

Spinner Rob McMillan (4-40) played a supporting role to send back the hosts for 101.

The Russets had maximum points secured by the 25th over of their reply, closing on 103-3 after opening pair Matthew Jamieson (41) and Mike Dean (22) had sent them on their way.

Captain Ian Eaton was unbeaten on 24, meaning his side occupy fourth place at the season’s halfway mark.

Davenham’s match at Marple in the same section was cancelled without a ball being bowled.

In Division Two, Congleton had reached 133-3 at home to Northwich before heavy rain stopped play.

Skipper Mark Walker (2-43) claimed a brace of wickets for the visitors who sit ninth, 15 points above the relegation zone, at the turnaround.

It was a similar story at Middlewich, who were 111-3 against Brooklands before the game at Haddon Field was abandoned.

Richard Clorley (43no) and Chris Webber (30 ret) were the hosts’ leading scorers, the latter bringing an early end to his innings after he was struck on the head while at the crease.

The left-hander, who had not been wearing a helmet, carried on batting for eight overs before he was taken to Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

He spent the night there after suffering a suspected fracture to his skull, but was discharged the next day.
