MIDDLEWICH ended a wait to win a first match of the season in Division Two on Saturday, when they beat guests Lindow by 52 runs.

They had failed to collect maximum points from any of their previous eight games.

Opener Adam Donnelly (46) and Richard Clorley (43) were their key men at the crease, helping the men from Haddon Field to post 153-6 after they had been put in.

Donnelly (3-20) then supported Stuart Price (4-22 off 15 overs) with the ball as they bowled out the visitors for 101.

Northwich knocked Brooklands off their perch in the same section, buoyed by Sam Stoneley (93 off 57 balls) who hit seven fours and half-a-dozen maximums as they ran up 216-7.

Captain Mark Walker (36) and James Plant (28no) contributed down the order.

The visitors mustered only 136-8 in reply at Moss Farm, restricted by Walker (4-24) and Sam Shepherd (3-34).

Northwich sit ninth in the standings after nine rounds, 12 points above the relegation zone.

Weaverham had no answer to Oxton’s Sri Lankan paceman Gayan Fernando, who took 6-47 to help dismiss them for 86.

Alex Nash (35no) was one of only three batsmen to post a double-digit score.

Wilden Cornwall (3-27) and Stuart Hayes (2-17) removed the hosts’ top order, but they did not have enough runs to protect as Oxton closed on 87-5.

Davenham thrashed Grappenhall by 104 runs in the same section.

South African opener Givon Christian (73) and Sam Hunt (59) both contributed half-centuries to the visitors’ innings, which closed on 237-6 after they been put in.

Chris Hornby (29no) and Mark Greaves (28) provided support.

Grappers were knocked over for 133, Stephen Bliss (5-22) and captain Daniel Hancock (4-25) doing the damage for the visitors.

Oulton Park ended a five-match sequence without a league win when they beat Bollington by 23 runs.

The men from Little Budworth struggled to 124 all out, Martyn East (50) one of only four batsmen to post a double-digit score.

However Sam Blandford returned superb figures of 8-22 off 13 overs, including six maidens, to rumble Bolly for 101.

Andrew Hards and Tom Hyslop took the other wickets to fall.
