DAVENHAM registered a first win in the Cheshire County League since the season’s opening day after they bowlers routed Warrington on Saturday.

Robin Taylor (6-33) and Ben Gough (4-34) ripped through the hosts’ batting order at Walton Lea, where the home team were rolled over for 67.

James Loveridge (30) and South African Givon Christian (19no) set the visitors on their way to victory by the 23rd over in the Division One encounter.

Weaverham lost by four wickets at in-form pacesetters Didsbury, the Russets’ second successive league defeat.

The visitors posted 201-9, which included a half-century by Wilden Cornwall (73).

Matthew Jamieson (32) contributed too at the top of the order, while a partnership worth 38 runs for the seventh wicket between the Antiguan and Alex Nash (19) boosted the total late on.

A century stand between openers Tim Hughes (67) and Nick Reid (43) set Didsbury on course for a fifth win in six matches.

Cornwall (2-57), George McCormick (2-45) and Rob McMillan (2-47) slowed them down afterwards, but not enough.

Grappenhall rise to second in the table after extending Oulton Park’s sequence without a league win to three matches.

Pat Roberts (73no) struck six fours and three maximums in a fine half-century for the men from Little Budworth, who posted 176-8 after being put in.

Martyn East (24) and Sam Blandford (22) chipped in too, while Sam Guest took 3-41.

Peter Barnes (62) and captain Adam Roylance (48) shared in a third-wicket stand worth 64 runs to set Grappers on course for victory before Ben Bodha (23no) and Gaz Burns (17no) finished the job at 177-5.

Guy Emmett took 2-30.

Northwich’s bowlers endured a difficult afternoon in Division Two at Barrow, where the home team amassed 265-4 after winning the toss.

Alex Reid (67no), Iroshan de Silva (65) and Marion Barclay (60) passed 50, while Sam Stoneley claimed two wickets.

He contributed a run-a-ball 27 in the visitors’ reply too, although they were never in the running and closed on 148-9.

Sri Lankan Chandrika Wathukapage (65) found the boundary a dozen times in his half-century.

It was a similar story for Middlewich’s attack at Mobberley, where the hosts made it to 257-5.

Charlie Nield (95) and Matt Mountney (56no) led the way, while Chris Webber claimed 2-58 for the visitors.

They reached 186-6 by the close, with Richard Clorley (43) and Webber adding 59 runs for the fourth wicket before Kieran Boyle and Luke Houghton (34no off 37 balls) put on 54 for the seventh.
