JUNIORS Ciaran McDonnell and Matthew Worsdale combined for Oakmere’s seconds to inflict a first defeat of the season on Stockport Georgians in Cheshire League Division A.

Chasing 96 to win, they came together after the Northwich outfit had been reduced to 40-7.

McDonnell (45no) and Worsdale (25no) stayed together until the latter struck a boundary to score the decisive runs as heavy rain started to fall.

Earlier Worsdale took four wickets inside two overs, without conceding a run, to rip through the home team’s top order.

Rhys Kibble (43) attempted to steady the ship with Ned Bailey, only for Michael Cushion (4-27) to break their partnership.

Efficient bowling by the visitors helped them bring Georgians’ innings to an ended for 95.

Barnton’s seconds endured an afternoon to forget at home to Lymm, who skittled them for 51.

Only Nick Blenkin (12) made it to double figures as the hosts were dismissed inside 21 overs, Tony Spaven (6-17) and Shovan Chatterjee (4-29) combining to impressive effect.

Asim Shah (46) almost took the visitors to their target on his own, only to be bowled by captain Matthew Morley, before Lymm scored the remaining runs in the 18th over to leave their hosts empty-handed.

Winsford seconds’ clash with Neston’s fourths at Knights Grange did not start, nor did Kingsley seconds’ clash with their Wirral counterparts.

Aston’s seconds could not raise a team, conceding their home encounter with Winnington’s seconds.
