ON a sodden Saturday when low scores dominated, no mid Cheshire side recorded a victory in the county league.

Weaverham ceded top spot in Division One to Didsbury, four-wicket winners at Davenham, following a home reverse against improving Sale.

The Russets were only able to muster 141 after winning the toss at Wallerscote Road, where stand-in skipper James Lewis (38) and Kevin Waterhouse (26) were the hosts’ leading scorers.

Tharshan Thayalan took 4-28.

Despite the best efforts of Wilden Cornwall, who again starred with the ball by taking 5-46, Weaverham were unable to stop Sale reaching their target in the 36th over at 142-7.

Davenham’s clash with Didsbury at Butchers’ Stile was reduced by rain to 68 overs.

Mark Greaves (24) and John O’Sullivan (21no) led the way for home team as they struggled to 114-7, Matt Gregson helping himself to 4-18 from seven overs.

Didsbury topped that with 115-6, Simon Normanton (32) laying a foundation before Matthew Grace (22no) finished the job.

South African Givon Christian (3-18) and captain Dan Hancock (2-44) were the pick of Davenham’s attack.

Oulton Park can be happy with a winning draw at Oxton, where they were dismissed for 139 after losing the toss.

James Fraser (3-23) and Greg Shillinglaw (3-35) did the damage, while opener Daniel Leech (38) anchored an innings in which he was the ninth man out.

Andrew Mills also chipped in a quick-fire 24.

Oxton were restricted to 134-9 in reply, led by Shillinglaw (39), after Kiwi Sam Blandford (5-25) starred for the visitors.

Tom Hyslop (2-33) provided support.

Northwich toiled to earn a share of the spoils from their meeting with Upton in Division Two, where the hosts struggled to 67-6 after tea.

Responding to their guests’ 153-6, Glinoj Cherian (22) was top-scorer.

Matthew Smith (58) and Nat Sariman (32) did the bulk of the scoring for Upton, with Ashley Sefton (2-41) the most successful of Northwich’s bowlers.

Middlewich were bowled out for 126 at home to Stockport in the same section.

Shea Gribben and (4-23) and Mark Green (4-39) took four wickets apiece, while Chris Webber (30) and Phil Parry (23) made the biggest individual contributions for the hosts at Haddon Field.

Stockport’s reply had reached 44-0 before rain then stopped the game in the 11th over.
