DAVENHAM’S seconds suffered an eight-wicket defeat at Upton, where they were dismissed for 187 on Saturday after losing the toss.

Chris Truelove (70) and Ash Cooper (34) contributed at the top of the order, while Elliot Alston (34) chipped in too.

Graeme Keenan took six wickets to halt the visitors’ initial momentum at the crease.

Skipper Matt Owen (83no) and Julian James (59no) did the bulk of Upton’s batting, easing the hosts to victory in the 38th over at 188-2.

Will Marston (3-25) led Northwich’s seconds to a 67-run victory in Division Two at Bollington, where the men from Moss Farm knocked over their hosts for 115.

Mark Phillips’ five-over spell included four maidens, yielding two wickets.

Earlier in the day Matthew George (43), Darren Sutcliffe (40no off 32 balls) and Callum Sutcliffe (33no) led the way as Northwich totalled 182-6 from their allotted overs.

Oulton Park’s seconds thrashed their Christleton counterparts by nine wickets after knocking over their guests for 65.

Elliott Ashwell (4-25) and Damian Barton (3-22) combined to do the damage before Roger Thompson (38no) and Ben Tomlinson (27) took the hosts to their target inside nine overs.

Weaverham seconds’ lower-order played a pivotal role in the Russets’ victory at Ashton on Mersey.

Knocks from Alex Stitch (50no) and Jarrod Pickering (44 off 33 balls) boosted their final total to 208 after they had been asked to bat.

A collective effort did for Ashton after tea, when they succumbed for 175 after captain Doug Pinnington, James Bell, Rob Dickinson and Ryan Simm claimed a brace of wickets each.
