GEOFF Mullett impressed in Weaver Valley Cycling Club colours during Macclesfield Wheelers’ 25.
The newcomer, a novice at time trials, completed two laps of a course close to Twemlow and Chelford in 59.32 on Saturday.
Alistair Stanway, slowed by a puncture in the final mile, timed 1:00.15, followed over the line by Jim Williams in 1:03.17.
Weaver Valley’s Colin Carthy (1:07.59), Neil Drummond (1:09.16) and veteran Alan Shuttleworth (1:14.02) were among the 137 to finish.
Williams went from there to compete in a 300km Audax, starting from Poynton on Saturday evening, that he completed in under 14 hours to claim a share of sixth spot.
Jim Duffy and Julian Perrett contested the second round of the Stafford and Stone Road Race Series at Swynnerton on Sunday.
The former rode well to classify 16th after crossing the line with the bunch.
