BLADES celebrated a surprise success in the Mid Cheshire League’s cup competition, sending out top-flight side Victoria.

Their reward for a 5-1 victory is a semi-finals date with Division Two rivals Valiants.

George Crouchley and Adam Ryder both recorded a pair of singles wins, making the most of their handicap head-start against opponents who had finished runners-up to Leopards in a race for the title.

Valiants ended the run of lower-ranked Kinetics, winning 6-3.

Alan Lenton emerged unbeaten for the victors on Monday, while Keith O’Brien contributed two solo wins to secure a last-four place.

Team Hut are the only Division One side still standing following a 4-0 victory against Wolves.

Both teams fielded two players, with Ben Chan and Charlie Ostapski sharing wins.

Division Three champions Bears toppled Tigers in style, with Paul Curley and Andy Edwards registering a brace of wins each.

The semi finals, at Lostock Social Club, are scheduled for Monday.
