STRUGGLING Wolves’ hopes of securing a spot in the Mid Cheshire Super League’s top flight were hit when they lost a fifth successive qualifying match.

They succumbed to Group One pacesetters Sparks, while a 9-1 win for Cobras against lowly Lemmings strengthened their chances of making the cut.

Crusaders were whitewashed by unbeaten champions Leopards, while Team Hut edged a close encounter with Tigers.

Helena Dennett’s head-to-head with Team Hut’s Geoff Mee was the match’s highlight, the former securing victory after a decisive fifth set.

Hawks remain out in front in Group Two following a 7-3 success against Valiants, who are outside of the places for the Super League’s second tier.

Blades proved too strong for newcomers Middlewich High School, while Mark Baker and Dave Hazlehurst were unbeaten for Winsford as they saw off Falcons.

John Roberts, for Vikings, avoided defeat too in a clash with struggling Kinetics.

Rangers beat Snakes in the other match.
