STUART Kellett ran into world and Premier League champion Gary Anderson during the latest Players’ Championship in Dublin on Friday.
And the Northwich darter lost their first-round encounter 6-2 at the Citywest Hotel.
It is the fifth time the duo has met since the 34-year-old’s switch to the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in 2012, with the Scot emerging as victor on every occasion.
However he bowed out to Gerwyn Price in the third round.
On Saturday Kellett fell short in a deciding leg against South African Devon Petersen at the opening stage of Players’ Championship 18 at the same venue.
It leaves him 58th on the one-year ProTour Order of Merit, with £10,250 in prize money.
Meanwhile he occupies 44th position in the updated PDC world rankings issued on Sunday.
