NORTHWICH'S Chris Maines improved on his qualification placing when contesting the 'Magnificent Sevens’ series as part of the Classic Sports Car Club Championship weekend at Oulton Park.
Racing his two-litre MK Indy RR in a field of 33 entries, Maines qualified to start from 24th position.
In the 40-minute race itself, including a mandatory pit stop, Maines gained several places on the run from the start down to the vital first corner.
That strong first lap gained him three places in total and he maintained his consistency to finish 22nd.
