LEE Suthard improved on a Weaver Valley Cycling Club record that had stood for more than four decades last weekend.
He reached the finish in Stone Wheelers’ 25 in 50.33, lowering a previous best of 53.21 for a 25-mile time trial by Ewart Howkins.
Suthard edged out Jon Surtees (Team Swift) to take second spot overall behind Alexander Royle (Army Cycling Union) who completed a fast course at Blythe Bridge more than two minutes faster.
Weaver Valley’s Dave Fearon, after timing 55.26, classified inside the top 50 overall.
He was followed by clubmates Alistair Stanway (57.23), Jim Williams (59.17), Colin Carthy (1:01.46) and Caroline Fearon (1:07.45).
The combined times of Suthard, Stanway and Fearon set a team best of 2:43.22 – beating a previous marker three years ago by three minutes.
