Holker Old Boys 1 Barnton 4

BARNTON continue to set the pace in the North West Counties League second tier after recording a third win from four matches at the weekend.

In-form Kev Towey scored twice late on, while further goals from Shaun Tuck and Daniel Laverty secured maximum points for Leon Knight’s side.

They had to come from behind to get them after David Swarbrick prodded past goalkeeper Adam Judge.

The Villagers were level when winger Chris Lomax found space to deliver a ball for Tuck, who took one touch before smashing a shot into the corner.

And five minutes before the break Barnton took the lead, this time when diminutive wide man Laverty drove inside and glided past several defenders before firing into the net.

Barnton settled the outcome in the game's final quarter of an hour, when Towey finished smartly.

He added the visitors' fourth goal, his sixth of the campaign, shortly afterwards.
