GIRLS from Hartford School of Gymnastics won medals at a county competition held in Liverpool.

Rhea Carless finished first overall in class at the Cheshire and Merseyside Women’s Four Piece Invitational, scoring highest on the beam in the pre-novice 10 category and third on vault.

Kerry Gillies, making her competitive bow as a novice 12, performed brilliantly on all apparatus to finish as runner-up.

Her floor routine was best in class, while she was second on uneven bars and vault.

Ella Day scooped overall silver too in the pre-novice 12 competition at Park Road Sports Centre, outscoring her rivals on the floor, finishing second on beam and third on bars.

A bronze medal went to Ewa Kzryzanowska at the end of her first contest as a novice 14 and over, reward for ranking second on bars and third on beam.

Four piece debutant Bethany Egerton (pre-novice 10) and Hannah Blain (novice 14 and over) were seventh overall in their respective categories.

“The girls flew the green Hartford flag high and proud all weekend – they were fantastic,” said coach Michelle Oakes.

A total of nine boys represented the club at the North West Two Piece Championships.

After scores on floor and vault were combined, Nathan Martin and Daniel Cannon both won silver medals at level one.

Max Baker, Dane French, Theo Mason and Oscar Stamper-Clark took bronze.

Thomas Cannon, Lucas Martin and Thomas Holding were rewarded with silver at level two.
