A winding up petition against Northwich Victoria has been dismissed after the club settled its tax debts in full.

During a brief hearing at the high court in London on Monday morning, Registrar John Briggs was told money owed by the Northern Premier League outfit to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) had been paid.

No detail was given as to how much the tax man was claiming.

It is the second time in less than a year that HMRC has applied to close down Northwich Victoria Football Club (2007) Ltd, the company that pays the players’ wages.

A first petition was dismissed in November.

Meanwhile a rival team, FC Halifax Town, also issued a petition to wind up Vics in May of this year.

It was later dismissed in July, according to the London Gazette.

Vics play a first fixture of the new season at Ossett Town this weekend.
