OAKMERE extended a winning sequence to five matches in Division B following a four-wicket success against promotion rivals Wilmslow Wayfarers.

Their guests made it to 140-8 after deciding to bat, with Sam Catling (4-36) and Dan Gibbon (2-19) the pick of the home team’s attack.

Paul Yearsley (42) and Catling (23no) shared in a partnership worth 43 runs for the fifth wicket to move their side close to victory, after Pete Lee (36) contributed at the top of the order.

Kingsley suffered a 35-run defeat at home to Bunbury, who recovered to post 155-7 after slipping quickly to 23-3 at the start of their innings.

Luke Bratt and Anthony Alderman took two wickets each.

Three of Kingsley’s top four batsmen departed for ducks, with Tom Hughes (20) the exception, before Adrian Burden (37) and Andrew Ainsworth (29) led a counter attack.

However the latter’s dismissal, caught playing a hook, led to their demise at 120.

Back-markers Winnington Park suffered a crushing defeat at home to Cholmondeley, who racked up 289-1.

Sam Speak (23) was the only batsman to reach double figures for the hosts as they crashed to 40 all out.

Steven Young’s six-wicket haul was a highlight for the away team at the Rec, while Peter Heaton took 4-16.

Elsewhere Barnton lost for a second successive Saturday in Division A, this time by 53 runs at home to table-toppers Heaton Mersey.

The visitors totalled 161-6, then knocked over their opponents for 108 after tea.
