WINNINGTON Park recovered from a disappointing defeat the previous week by thrashing Ashley on Saturday.

Their hosts were left wishing the rain had not relented when they were skittled for 34 after being put in, Tom Speak returning figures of 5-21 in a 12-over spell.

Sam Barnes (3-6) offered support, while James Hanson claimed two wickets on his debut.

Park needed little more than nine overs to settle the outcome, led by Martin Evans (25no).

“The team understood the importance of bouncing back,” said skipper Alec Butcher.

“Fantastic spells from Tom and Sam earned a victory; they were a perfect combination of consistency and hostility.”

Barnton suffered a seven-wicket defeat at Chester County Officers, who were taken to their victory target by an unbeaten century partnership between Mike Jones (69no) and Chris Wright (54no).

The men from Broomsedge had totalled 196-7 after winning the toss.

Kingsley celebrated back-to-back wins following a six-wicket success at Bunbury.

James Faint grabbed a second five-wicket haul inside seven days, while Chris Martin – promoted from the second team – claimed two victims in the hosts’ 160.

Mitch Headrick (50) and Ben Stoddart (47) helped Kingsley to 161-4.

“Our young slow bowlers – James and Chris – were excellent,” reflected skipper Toby Mullins afterwards.

Elsewhere in Division Two Oakmere were eight-wicket winners at Chelford, who they dismissed for 88.

Winsford suffered a 19-run defeat in Division Three at Wilmslow Wayfarers, who they restricted to 153-7 after winning the toss.

Mark Dean (4-40) and Ben Crellin (2-28) starred with the ball.

Craig Webb (50) set the visitors on course for victory before a lower-order collapse left them stranded on 134.
