DAVENHAM needed only 17 overs to score the runs they needed to beat neighbours Northwich in Division Two on Saturday.

Skipper Martin Goff (54no) and fellow opener Chris Truelove (42no) secured a 10-wicket win at Moss Farm as they raced to 100, recording a 13th league win of the campaign.

Earlier, Northwich had succumbed for 99.

They struggled to recover after Ryan Blackie (2-19) struck twice in the first over, though Mike Hitchens (3-30) was the pick of the attack.

Matthew George (31) and Joe Walker (26) contributed most runs to their team’s small total.

Davenham’s lead at the table’s summit is worth 64 points with six matches to play.

Alex Stitch’s unbeaten century was a highlight of Weaverham’s 106-run success at home to Bredbury.

He shared in a partnership worth 129 runs with Rob Harrison (63) as the Russets ran up 231-4 at Wallerscote Road after being put in.

They dismissed their guests for 125, with Stef Bell (3-30), Jarrod Pickering (2-28) and James Bell (2-24) each making a contribution.

Weaverham occupy fourth place in the table, 11 points adrift of a promotion position.

Oulton Park’s batsmen eased them to their victory target, earning maximum points from a home date with Irby.

Thomas Bannister-Wright (79) and Mike Cook (54no) contributed half-centuries, while Ben Kettle made 49, as they successfully chased 233 to win at Little Budworth.

The visitors had posted 232-6 after losing the toss, with Richard Smith (3-52) the pick of the bowlers.

There was no play in the Division One fixture between Bowdon and Middlewich.

It leaves Middlewich 25 points adrift of a position of safety at the bottom of the table.
