MOULTON RBL B are the lowest-ranked side to reach the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association’s Littler Cup last eight.

They defeated Section Four rivals Barnton Cricket Club B by 21 chalks at Spinner & Bergamot, setting up a quarter-finals date with three-time winners Castle Private A.

The Premier Division leaders overturned a 60-chalk handicap deficit to defeat Moulton RBL A at Winnington Rec last Monday in their third-round head-to-head.

Tarporley RBL, from Section Three, squeezed past Castle Private B by a single mark at Kelsall, where they started 90 points better off than their higher-ranked opponents.

It earns them a meeting with Barnton Cricket Club A, who avoided an upset against Meadowbank B at Moulton RBL.

The Winsford outfit, who play two levels lower, could not make their handicap advantage count as they lost by 54.

Perhaps the pick of the last eight ties pits Frodsham Red Lion A, too strong for clubmates Frodsham Red Lion C, with top-flight rivals Wharton Cons A.

The men from the Tin Mission dropped a single chalk in their defeat of Comberbach B.

Rudheath A made their class tell against Davenham A at Castle Private, but Owley Wood A toppled former league rivals Comberbach A – runners-up in last year’s final – at Davenham Rec.
