TEENAGERS from clubs in Northwich reached the final stages of a trial for the Great Britain junior team on Sunday.

Scott Ozsanlav-Harris, from Grange School, and Northwich Rowing Club’s George Lawton both contested the men’s single scull final at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.

They finished in fourth and fifth position respectively.

Leon Langmead, also from Northwich, took part in the assessment too.

On Saturday, five crews from Northwich Rowing Club represented the North West during the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta at the same venue.

An under 16s boys’ coxed four of Rhys Coffey, Matt Radford, Lawrence Williams, George Crouchley and cox Tom Swithenbank won a gold medal.

Beth Willford-Dutton, in an under 16s girls’ single, claimed bronze.

Imogen Wolstencroft, Fiona Roberts, Emma Pullan, Katherine Schofield and cox Anna Johnson were in an under 15s girls’ coxed four that finished fourth in the final.

Greg Murphy, competing in an under 16s boys’ single scull, finished as runner-up in the B final, while clubmate Tom Swithenbank ranked 11th overall in an under 14s boys’ single.

A Grange School Rowing Club under 16s boys’ coxed eight was sixth in the A final, while their under 16s girls’ eight was eighth overall.
